Charles “Tex” Simon, age 66, passed away on July 21, 2016. He was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of French Settlement, LA. He is survived by his Mother, Orabelle F. Simon and sons, Charles “Chuck” Simon (Heather), Todd Simon (Tammy), Jeremy Simon (Lindsey), and Brandon Simon (Alicia), as well as his brothers Leroy Simon, and E. J. Simon, Jr. He will be greatly missed by his 11 grandchildren: Christian Stafford, Raven Stafford, Londyn Simon, Madison Simon, Bryce Hymel, Miranda Simon, Amelia Simon, Makenna Simon, Breanna Simon, Hannah Simon, and Nora Simon. He was preceded in death by his Father, Elmore Simon and sister, Belle Tassin. Charles served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War as a sharpshooter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation was at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Floyd John "Monk" Ordeneaux, Jr. passed away due to a lengthy battle with cancer on July 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Monk was born on December 27, 1950. He was a lifelong resident of Paulina, LA. Monk is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Charmaine Matherne Ordeneaux; son, Kenneth John; son, James Keith and his wife, Charlotte Robertson Ordeneaux; grandchildren, Henry, Martha- Miller and Charlotte Ordeneaux; and mother, Ruby Poche Ordeneaux. He is also survived by his siblings, Karen Roussel (Laddie), Kate Ordeneaux, Peggy Richard (David), Jody Ordeneaux (Elizabeth), and Linda Calcagno (Craig); and brother-in-law, Charles LeBoeuf. He is also survived by a host of brothers-and sisters-in-law, and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his three infant children Kris Lynn, Mary Elizabeth and Floyd III; his father, Floyd John Ordeneaux, Sr.; and sister, Terri Ordeneaux LeBoeuf.

Francis Leslie Roussel, 89, a life long resident of Paulina, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Audrey Jacob Roussel; his children: Leslye Ann Roussel, Dennis Paul Roussel (Debra) and Susan Roussel Poirrier; his grandchildren: Cory, Chad and Casey Roussel, Kayla Poirrier and Nicole Poirrier Adams; his great-grandchildren: Chance Montelius, Preston Adams, Leah and Phoenix Roussel, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is the son of the late Frank and Eleanor Roussel; brother of Grace Taylor, and the late Shirley, Robert, and Charles Roussel. He retired from Boh Bros. Construction with over 25 years of dedicated service. His family would like to thank the staff at St. James Parish Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for their loving care in his final days. Relatives and friends were invited to attend visitation on Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

A native of Tangipahoa, LA and a long time resident of Gramercy, LA, Sharon Traylor Bevil passed away on June 29, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 66. She is survived by her loving husband, John M. Bevil, Sr.; daughter, Janice Bevil of Gramercy; son, Scott Traylor (Cindy) of Minnesota; step-son, John, Jr. (Marilyn) of Florida; granddaughters, Skye Deroche of Gramercy and Jaimee Traylor of Minnesota; sisters, Nancy Loper (Larry) and JoAnn Smith (Elliot) both of MS; and Lois Leonard, of Springfield, LA and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by special friends: Royce and Tina Zeringue, Kirk and Nina Bailey and family; Paul, Karen, and Chad Remondet, Bill and Brenda Clopton, Zea Dumas and Jacob Jacob and co-workers at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, T.J. (Jay) and Rita Traylor; brother, James Traylor; sisters: Wilda Fairburn Gill, Bertie Traylor Ballard, Yvonne Booty Chenivert, and step-son, Barry T.

Joseph E. Samrow Jr., 66, a native of Deridder, LA and resident of Gramercy, LA passed away June 30, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Geraldine “Deanie” Becnel Samrow; children, Brandon Samrow and wife Nikki, Brittany Landry and husband Kerry, Bentley Samrow and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Mallory, Brant, Stella, Laney, Colin, Isabel, Ellie and 2 more on the way; father, Joseph Samrow; brothers, George and Greg Samrow; sisters, Kathleen Deroche and Marie Fuselier. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thekla Meyer Samrow; grandson, Logan. He retired from Dupont after 40 years of service. For many years he served the Town of Gramercy first as a police officer and then as an Emergency Preparedness Director. He was always willing to help those in need. Visitation was on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Rose Lynn Funeral Services in Lutcher, LA from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Sacred Heart in Gramercy, LA from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m.

Inez Marie Reulet Scioneaux, a native and resident of Vacherie, LA passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 100. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her two sons: Ronald P. Scioneaux and Erkle J. Scioneaux; daughter Kathleen “Kitty” Becnel and husband David; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Orence “Blue” Scioneaux; parents Henry and Norma (Torres) Reulet; sister Lema Reulet; brother Jean Henry Reulet; grandson Christopher David Becnel; and daughter-in-law Laura F. Scioneaux. Visitation was held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA from 8:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016. Survived by his wife, Emily Anthony Mitchell. A daughter, Patrice Mitchell Johnson and Husband, Damon Wayne Johnson. His two grandsons, Julian Anthony and Jacoby Aidan Johnson. Sisters: Beatrice Williams, Melba Batiste, Rubenstein (Reginald) Clark, Myrtle, Marvel and Julia Mitchell and Angela (Malcolm) Songy. Brothers: Floyd (Cynthia) Mitchell and Elder Emil D. Brother of Mary Morris, George, Eddie and Freddie Franklin, Paula Mae (Larry) Jones, Catherine (Perry) Becnel, Angie Franklin and Elma Rae Bell. Survived by a host of step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
