Bulldogs Qualify For Legion Baseball Playoffs

The Lutcher High based-Noranda Bulldogs American Legion Baseball team qualified for the State Legion playoffs after finishing as the runnerup in the Second District West regular season tournament.

Results of the postseason games of the doubleelimination state tourney that was played at Kirsch- Rooney Stadium on the campus of Delgado Community College in New Orleans will be in next week's edition of the News Examiner-Enterprise.

Bulldogs Finish 2-2 In Fort Walton Tournament

The Lutcher High based-Noranda Bulldogs American Legion baseball team participated in the annual Fort Walton Beach Tournament in Florida and finished with a 2-2 mark with wins over St. Martin and Stone. Noranda also dropped a pair against Crestview and West Harrison.

Against St. Martin, the Bulldogs registered a 8-0 shutout victory.

Noranda jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead when Rhett Whitney reached after being hitby-a-pitch. Later C.J. Cullen had a base hit and Taitan Levet followed with a RBI ground-out. A throwing error plated Cullen from 3rd base.

Lady Pride Drop Pair In Metro League Play

The Lutcher High based-Lady Pride A varsity softball team continued play in the Metro League falling to East Ascension and the Sluggers A team.

Against Sluggers A, the Lady Pride A suffered a 9-7 loss.

Neither team scored in the first two innings of play. Sluggers A got on the scoreboard in the third on a throwing error that plated a run.

Nicholls State To Hold Softball Camps In July

The Nicholls State University Softball team will have three camps in July. Head coach Angel Santiago will operate all three camps for July 10- 12 being held at the Colonel Softball Complex in Thibodaux.

The Junior Colonels Camp is slated for July 10 from 5-8 p.m. The camp is open for softball players in eighth grade and younger and is limited to 50 campers. The cost to attend is $5 per camper.

The Advanced Pitcher / Catcher Camp is set for July 11 from 6-9 p.m. The camp is open for softball player from eighth to 12th grades and is limited to 25 pitchers and 25 catchers.

Boy Scout Troop 59 Of Gramercy

Last month, Boy Scout Troop 59 of Gramercy spent the weekend camping out at Sweetwater Ranch in Loranger earning their Horsemanship merit badge. The boys learned basic care taking skills and then went on a 2 mile trail ride. A good time was had by all!

Lady Rippers 8U - 2018 USSSA Class C State Champs

The Lady Pride A varsity softball team representing Lutcher High School recorded three victories in a local tournament over Assumption, Blaze and Blaze A team last weekend. Against Assumption, the Lady Pride A came away with a 8-2 victory. Assumption jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead on a two-run homer to leftfield. The Lady Pride responded with four runs in the second when Kami Dufresne led off with a double followed by a pair of walks by Mikayla Kinler and Caroline Keller to load the bases. A bases-loaded walk forced in one run and then later Sara Poche stroked a three-run RBI double to center field to make it 4-2.

Manning Passing Academy To Hold Football Camp For Girls

The Manning Passing Academy (MPA), entering its 23rd year, will launch its inaugural MPA Football Clinic and Camp for Women and Girl on June 25-26 at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.

"This is a historic moment for both the MPA and for women and girls who want to play, learn and coach the great game of football," said Archie Manning, who along with sons Cooper, Peyton and Eli, are the namesake of the annual passing academy. "Our camp director brought the concept to our family from a conversation he had with two former National Football League female staff members. We love the progressive idea and said, "Why wait" and moved forward to set the date."

Lady ‘Dogs Named To All-District 6-4A Softball Team

The All-District 6-4A Softball team was announced and several members of the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs were named to the elite squad.

Lutcher senior pitcher Brenn Ursin was named co-MVP in the league along with Parkview's Audrey Green.

The Noranda Bulldogs defeated Warren Easton-based Wilson Electric, but loss to East St. John based-PVS.

Manning Passing Academy Slated For June 21-24

The 23rd Manning Passing Academy is set for June 21-24 in Thibodaux at Nicholls St. This year will mark the 13th time that the camp will take place at Nicholls. A full house of high school athletes aspiring to improve their skills and to continue their football careers at the next level.

The Manning family of Cooper, Peyton and Eli will be on hand to share their knowledge of the game of football to eager campers.
