Wildcats Capture Pair Of Wins Over Donaldsonville

The St. James Wildcat baseball team began District 10-3A play on a successful note with a pair of victories over the Donaldsonville Tigers last week. In the first game, the Wildcats came away with a 15-2 win. St. James jumped out to a 1-0 first inning lead when

 

Tyler Steib had a base hit and then Landon Gravois, Rahlik Fleming and Tate Morvant each drew walks that drove in a run.

St. James 4-H’er Wins Big At Southern University Livestock Show

Jayda St. Pierre a 4-H club member at the Science and Math Academy won Reserve Champion overall honors at the Southern University Livestock Show held in Baton Rouge Recently. Jayda, who has been showing pigs for 3 years now is an excellent showman and won overall Reserve Champion Showmanship honors as well. Before being named reserve champion Jayda won her division. Congratulations to Jayda for a job done well.

Lady Bulldogs Begin District Play With A Loss

The Lutcher Lady Bulldog softball team began District 6-4A play on a sour note when the Parkview Baptist Lady Eagles registered a 17-5 victory.

The Lady 'Dogs led 2- 1 at the end of the second inning when Shaelee Schexnayder led off the frame with a base hit and Destiny Coleman hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Schexnayder to 2nd base. Kami Dufresne then delivered a RBI single and Kristen Poche followed with a RBI single to right field.

Parkview would answer in the top of the third with runs to give the Lady Eagles a 4-2 edge, but Lutcher managed a run in the bottom of the inning when Mackenzie Louviere and Brenn Ursin each had base hits. Destiny Coleman delivered a RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-3.

Wildcats Roar Past Runnels, 20-13

The St. James Wildcat baseball team captured a high scoring 20-13 victory over the Runnels School in a nondistrict contest.

Neither team would score in the first two innings and Runnels got on the scoreboard first with four runs in the third.

The Wildcats responded with eight runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 8-4.

Bulldogs Finish 2-1 In U-High Tourney

The Lutcher Bulldog baseball team completed play in the University High Tournament played in Baton Rouge.

The Bulldogs defeated Doyle in firstround play by a 11-1 score. Neither team scored in the first two innings of play. Lutcher broke the ice in the third exploding for five runs when CJ Cullen and Tristan Conway each had base hits. Mason Keller hit into a fielder's choice to plate a run and Ivan Clark followed with a bunt single. Kolby Bourgeois hit a sacrifice fly to center field to plate a run and Hayden Brack followed with a two-run RBI double. Later Alec Bland stroked a RBI single to center field.

Boy Scout Troop 59 Has Been Busy

The local Boy Scout Troop has been busy the past few months following the local food drive in December.

The food drive collected 4,201 pounds of non-perish foods for the local food pantry. Troop and Pack 59 wanted to extend another

THANK YOU to the community for the donations that helped made this possible! The Troop held a Court of Honor to award achievements the Scouts earned from the pass few months. In total, 20 Merit Badges and 3 Rank Advancements were awarded. Connor Louque earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout and will be honored with an Eagle Ceremony in March.

The St. James Wildcat Baseball team captured a pair of victories over the Grand Isle Trojans in a double-header played last weekend. In the first game, the Wildcats came away with a convincing 19-3 victory. Rahlik Fleming of the Wildcats led the way as he drove in runs on a home run in the second and had a double in the third. St. James jumped out to a 9-2 first inning lead as Sean LeBeouf and Tate Morvant each scored stealing home plate.

Tailhrys Smith had a RBI single and Amarion Walters had a RBI double. A bases-loaded walk and a passed ball plated runs

The Lutcher Lady Bulldog softball team participated in the St. Amant tournament last weekend finishing with a 1-2 mark.

Lutcher began tourney play with a 10-5 victory over Ascension Catholic.

Both teams were tied at 2-2 at the end of the first inning. Lutcher's runs were scored when Heather Tregre led off the inning with a walk and then Shaelee Schexnayder was hit-by-a-pitch. Destiny Coleman followed with a two-run RBI double to left field.

The Lutcher Bulldog Baseball team began play in the annual Monroe Tournament held last weekend.

The Bulldogs began tourney play with a 3-2 victory over Ouachita Parish.

The contest was tied at 2-2 at the end of the first inning. Lutcher's lone runs came when Ivan Clark reached on a base hit and Kolby Bourgeois followed with a walk. Hayden Brack delivered a RBI ground-out and then Bourgeois stole home plate.
