“The Way Of The Cross” Good Friday Walk

"He did it for us - why not do it for Him"; stated Cheryl Louque, Chairwoman of "The Way of the Cross Walk". On Friday, March 30, 2018. (Good Friday) this group of Christian men, women and children, began their procession at 10:00 a.m. They departed walking from Sacred Heart Church, Gramercy, LA and then proceeded to walk across Hwy. 44, then walked up to the top of the Levee viewing the Mississippi River. The group began to pray the "Station of the Cross" as they stopped walking to read each station.

 

The Stations ended near St. Joseph's Church, in Paulina, LA. Once they were on the grounds, they proceeded to walk to the large "Cross" located in the St. Joseph's Church Cemetery. Together the group prayed the Holy Rosary. "I

Bulldogs Capture Pair Of Shutout Wins Over Tara

The Lutcher Bulldog baseball team captured a pair of wins in District 6- 4A play with two shutouts over the Tara Trojans. The victories improved the Bulldogs to 7-1 in district.

Lutcher concludes league play this week with a pair of games against Plaquemine this week.

The LHSAA will announce the playoff pairings for Class 5A, 4A and 3A on Sunday, April 22.

Against Tara, the Wildcats registered a pair of shutout wins over the Trojans.

Wildcats Capture Pair Of Wins Over Lusher Charter

The St. James Wildcat baseball team improved to 5-2 in District 10-3A play after taking a pair of league wins over Lusher Charter School.

In the first game, the Wildcats registered a 14-0 shutout victory.

St. James exploded for eight runs in the first inning when Tate Morvant delivered a RBI single and then a Lusher throwing error plated a run. Taihrys Smith smacked a two-run RBI single and a bases-loaded walk plated a run. Later a wild pitch scored a run and Sean Lebeouf stroked a RBI double. Tyler Steib belted a RBI single to right field to end the frame.

From Lion To Wildcat; Brennan Tramonte Signs On To Further Career At LA College

The Tramonte family sure is proud of one of their own as Brennan Tramonte, a senior linebacker at Ascension Christian, signed on the dotted line recently to play football for the Louisiana College Wildcats.

Brennan will leave Ascension Christian as one of the school’s most decorated football players, as well as, a record holder in several statistical categories.

LA College’s Sully Martin Continues To Shine On The Diamond; Recently Named ASC Hitter Of The Week

Congratulations are in order for Louisiana College center fielder Sully Martin, who is also a Paulina native and Lutcher High standout, for being named the American Southwest Conference hitter of the week.

This is the first weekly award for the allconference player during his career at LC.

Three Bulldog Pitchers Combine In No-Hitter In Win Over St. James

The Lutcher Bulldog Baseball team captured three straight victories last week over St. James and a pair of District 6-4A wins over St. Michael.

Against St. James, the Bulldogs came away with a convincing 11-1 victory over their Parish rivals.

Three pitchers teamed up to throw a nohitter against the Wildcats. Joshua Oubre earned the mound win. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Landon Lambert and Kyle St. Pierre entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief.

LHS Bulldogs Named To All- District 6-4A Basketball Team

The All-District 6-4A basketball team was announced recently and both the Lutcher boys and girls squads had several make the elite team.

On the girls' side, the Lady Bulldogs had three named to the first team in junior forward Jeyla Smith, sophomore guard Jaleah LaFargue and senior guard Chyna Ambrose.

Smith averaged 20 points, five rebounds and three steals per game. LaFargue averaged 17 points, 10 steals and six rebounds and Ambrose averaged six points, four steals and four rebounds.

Lady Wildcats Capture First Place In Derbigny Relays

The St. James Track & Field teams participated in the annual Derbigny Relays held at Lutcher High School.

In the Girls' Division, the Lady 'Cats chalked up 102 team total points to outdistance second place Mentorship Academy (79) points and third-place Woodlawn - Baton Rouge (66) points.

St. James swept the field and track MVPs at the meet. Korri Martin was named the girls' field MVP with a second place finish in the long jump (17 feet, 3 inches) and high jump (5-06) and a third place finish in the triple jump (34-05).

Ray Laiche Memorial Golf Tournament

St. Charles Catholic High School’s annual Ray Laiche Memorial Golf tournament will be held Friday, April 6, at Riverlands Golf and Country Club. The entry fee for the tournament is $100.00 per player, $400.00 per team, or $500 per team, which includes a hole sponsorship. Format for the tournament is a scramble limited to a maximum of 32 players or 100 per team. Put together a team today!
