Nelson “Simp” Trosclair, Jr., age 54, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 12, 2016. He is survived by his sisters: Alice T. Palermo (Vince) and Susan T. Madere (Gus) and 2 children: Jenny Robinson (Ronald) and Dustin Trosclair as well as 3 grandchildren. He is preceded in death his Mother, Myrtis Poche Trosclair, Father Nelson Trosclair, Sr., and a sister Betty Trosclair. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date

Gladys Johnson Horne

HORNE Gladys Johnson Horne, age 80, died on September 9, 2016 at UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles, California. She  was a resident of Los Angeles, Calif. for 51 years. Religious services were held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Los Angeles, Calif. She is survived by five children, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four sisters: Ernestine Landry, Verline and Ruby Lee Johnson and Joyce Jones, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Gistine and Harry Johnson, Sr., one son Lee Westley Horne, six brothers: Carlos, Herman, Herbert, Paul, Oscar and Harold Lee, two sisters: Eula and Jessie Johnson and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Loma Linda “Lomie” Levet Michel

To know Lomie is to love Lomie Loma Linda “Lomie” Levet Michel, age 69, passed away at her Reserve, LA home on Monday, September 26, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Lomie was born on September 11, 1947. She was a lifelong resident of Reserve, LA, living within one geographic mile her whole life. A dedicated parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church Parish, she was a 1961 graduate of St. Peter Catholic School. She was also a 1965 graduate of Leon Godchaux High School. After high school, Lomie worked at Avondale Shipyards for 9 years, waking up at 5:00 a.m. five days a week to commute across the Huey P. Long Bridge with her father. In 1977, she started working at the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was a tried and true employee, retiring after 32 years of service. You may remember seeing Lomie around St.

Florence Murry Hoder, a beloved mother aged 92, died at the hospital in Long Beach, Long Island, NY on Saturday, September 10, 2016. She was a native of Reserve, LA. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Hoder Barrera and son-in-law Luis Barrera; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Joseph Murry of Paulina, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Hoder of Long Beach, Long Island, NY; her parents, Cecilia Brock Murry and Fabian Murry of Reserve, LA and her sisters, Stella Murry Marse, Adine Murry, Rita Murry Becnel all of Reserve, LA, and Beulah Murry Rome of Harvey., LA as well as her brothers Fabian Murry of New Sarpy, LA, Louis “Jay” Murry and Murphy Murry of Reserve, LA.

Terry Tomlin, Jr. was born on April 11, 1960 and passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the age of 56. He was a native of Talladega, AL and a resident of Reserve, LA. He is survived by his Mother, Sue and her husband Billy Ragsdale; his Father Terry Tomlin, Sr., and his wife Lana Jo, and his companion, Cristy Dubroc. He is also survived by his daughter, Lindsay Campbell; brothers: Rob Tomlin and wife Kelly, Joe Tomlin and wife Angela, and Kim Borne and Husband Gene as well as one grandchild, Aubre Shea. Loretta Marie Weber, 49, departed this life to enter into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Loretta passed away at her home in Garyville on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She was the daughter of Penny Torres Chachere of Garyville and Brian (Donna) Weber, of North Augusta, SC. She is survived by her son, Ryan Caldarera; brothers Bart Weber of Garyville; Robert (Christine) Weber of Jensen Beach, FL; sister Kristin (Brian) Cook of Hernando, MS. nephews and nieces include Jessica and Joshua Weber of Jensen Beach; Sebastian of Garyville, LA; and Brady of Hernando. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Anna Torres of Garyville. She was also the step sister of Samuel (Amber) Stump of Atlanta, and had a step niece, Savannah of Lincolnton, GA. Zulma Waguespack Elrod passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, William Elrod; her children, Angelique Naquin (Larry) and William Elrod II; her granddaughters, Amanda, Victoria, and Stephanie Waguespack; her 7 younger siblings: Dr. Hubert (Lynda) Waguespack, Rodney (Catherine) Waguespack, Perry (Anelle) Waguespack, Katherine (David) Amedee, Bertha (Jimmy) Brock, Dr. Philip (Michelle) Waguespack, and Jane (Wayne) Becnel; and 24 nieces and nephews. Zu was born in Vacherie, LA to Agnes and Alvin Waguespack on July 13, 1932. She graduated from St. James High School and later from Spencer Business College. As a “city girl”, she worked in the heart of New Orleans as an executive secretary for the American Sugar Company and enjoyed the French Quarter and shopping during her lunch break. She loved to cook for her family and was an excellent caregiver for her husband after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Norman Thomas “Pappy” Roussel, age 81, was born on November 29, 1934 and passed away on September 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Clement Roussel; son, Norman Thomas Roussel, Jr., and his parents, Clarence “DoDo” Roussel and Marie R. Roussel. He is survived by his daughters: Norma Roussel Louque and husband Mark, and Crystal Roussel Watts and husband, Jewel, Jr. as well as his grandchildren: Norman Thomas Roussel,  III, Dexter Lee Roussel, Ryan Louque and wife, Rachel, Lindsay Louque Malik and husband, Nathan, Blake Louque and wife Summer, Jewel Watts, III and wife, Allison, Jessica Watts Bacorn and husband, David, and 11 great-grandchildren. A visitation in his honor was held at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by a Religious Service at the funeral home then burial in St. Joseph Church cemetery.

Hezekiah Triggs, Sr.

Hezekiah Triggs, Sr., age 83, a native and resident of Thibodaux, peacefully left this earth on Thursday, August 25, 2016.Relatives and friends were invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Thibodaux. Burial in Blue Lilly Cemetery. Visiting was held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Dorothy Triggs; 3 sons, Henderson, Darryl and Hezekiah Triggs, Jr.; 4 daughters, Bernadette Triggs, Darlene Triggs-Williams and Wanda Triggs - Henderson (Emanuel); 1 brother, Johnny Boyd (Margaret); 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Gustavia and Hezekiah Triggs, III; 2 sons, Wilbur Collins and Joseph Triggs; 5 brothers, Herbert, Wilbert and Henderson Triggs, Sr., Richard, Lawrence Sr. and Aubrey Boyd Sr.; 4 sisters, Annie Triggs, Lillian Joseph and Ethel Robinson. Kennedy Funeral was in charge of arrangements.
