Marie Estelle (Hidalgo) Cook took her eternal rest on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 6:30 a.m. at her home in Laplace, LA. She was 55 years old and was born on November 7, 1961 to Kearney Hidalgo and the late Eloise Hidalgo.

She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Wolfe; her grandson Tyrin Belvin and her granddaughter Janiyah Wolfe. She is also survived by her father Kearney Hidalgo, six sisters: Ramona Hidalgo, Katrina (Charles) Ricard, Cindy (Morris) Lodrigue of Gramercy, LA, Lisa Hidalgo of Houma, LA, Tammy (Billy) Taylor of Lutcher, LA, godchild Jodi (Ulises) Urbina of Paulina, LA, one brother Shawn (Heather) Hidalgo of Mount Airy, LA, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by one of her daughters Theresa Hidalgo, her mother Eloise Hidalgo and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Eldess “Bud” Broussard, Jr., age 86, passed away on February 20, 2017. He was a native of Lake Arthur, LA and a resident of Gramercy, LA. He is survived by his children: Diane Ledet (Dennis), Kent Broussard, and Elizabeth Vicknair (Kenny) as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia V. Broussard; parents Eldess Broussard, Sr. and Rita Monlezun Broussard, and son Daryl Broussard as well as his brother Rene Broussard, and sisters Regina Roche and Norma Hoffpauir and a granddaughter, Ainsley Bella Vicknair. A visitation in his honor will be on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, LA from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina, LA. Bessie Roussel Carnaggio

Bessie Roussel Carnaggio, age 95, was born on July 26, 1921 and passed away on February 13, 2017. She was a native of Paulina, LA and a resident of River Ridge, LA. She is survived by her sons: Lionel Carnaggio (Sandra) and Dr. Carl Carnaggio (Betty) as well as a sister, Lydia R. Millet. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Carnaggio; parents: Emile and Olivia Melancon Roussel; brothers: Hubert, Nelson, Paul, and Lee Roussel; sisters: Marion Levy, Inez Luquette, Marguerite Aucoin, and Lizette McCann. Bessie was a seamstress who enjoyed interior design. She was a wonderful Matriach of the family and was an inspiration and always set good examples for her children and grandchildren. She was employed as an airport manager for 20 years. A visitation in her honor was on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, LA from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Marshall Foster, Sr., a native and resident of Lutcher passed away at Chateau St. James Nursing Home in Lutcher, at 7:15 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017. He was 76. Survived by his wife, Betty Long Foster. Daughters: Showlatha "Wendy" Foster and Daphne (Alton) Placide. Sons: Marshall (Deondra) Foster, Jr., Daryl (Francis) Foster and Sheddrian Melancon. Brother: Preston (Josephine) Foster. Sisters: Lisa Foster and Shirley Smith. Robert “Bob” Schexnayder, 83, a native of St James and resident of Donaldsonville, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Bob retired from the LA Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and he also served in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Abadie Schexnayder of 55 years; four sons, Robert Paul and wife, Debbie Schexnayder, David Charles and wife, Dawn Schexnayder, Dale Edward Schexnayder and Neal Joseph and wife, Goldie Schexnayder; one daughter, Lucy Schexnayder Knotts; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Cody, Cade, Reed, Sydney, Eden, Maci Schexnayder and Scottie Knotts; three brothers, Sidney and wife, Audrey, Henry and wife, Julia and George Schexnayder. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Beatrice Labiche Schexnayder; two brothers, James “Broom” Schexnayder and Louis “Preacher” Schexnayder and two sisters, Joan Ann Gautreaux and Lucy Schexnayder. Doris Bourgeois Hymel, 92, of Gramercy, LA quietly departed this life on January 29, 2017 at Chateau St. James in Lutcher, LA. She was the daughter of the late Felicien “Shank” Bourgeois of Morganza, LA and Josephine Braud Bourgeois Mersch of Dutchtown, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Denis E. Hymel of Helvitia Plantation, Convent, LA and her sister Joyce Bourgeois Nassar of Metairie, LA. She attended the public schools of Dutchtown, LA and from Dutchtown High School. Doris and her husband successfully farmed a large sugar cane plantation on the River Road of St. James Parish for many years. She was a past officer and member of the Homemakers Club and a volunteer at St. Vincent’s Charity in Lutcher, LA. Doris had a special interest in genealogy and enjoyed researching and meticulously documenting her family’s lineage and history. She loved to cook “River Road Style” and share her wonderful dishes, coconut cream pies and unique recipes with her family and friends.
