Lutcher Bulldogs Begin District Play With Loss

The Lutcher Bulldog Basketball team began District 9-3A play on a sour note after dropping a 65-51 loss to the Lusher Charter School Lions. The Bulldogs led 14- 11 at the end of the first quarter. However, the homestanding Lions went on a 11-3 surge to start the second quarter and finished the period outgunning the Bulldogs 17-9 to take a 28-23 advantage at the break.

Bulldogs Take The Bark Out Of South Terrebonne, 94-65

The Lutcher Bulldog Basketball team continued to tune up for District 9-3A play with a convincing 94-65 victory over the South Terrebonne Gators. Lutcher led from start to finish as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 30-14 first quarter advantage. Lutcher used its outside shooting to put the lead into double-digits. The Bulldogs connected on 11 3-point goals for the game. Lutcher outgunned the Gators 16-11 in the second period to take a 46- 25 lead at the half

Scott, Smith Lead Lady ‘Cats To First District Win

The St. James Lady Wildcat Basketball team captured its first District 9-3A win of the season after defeating the Lusher Charter School Lady Lions by a 56-31 score. St. James led from start to finish and outscored Lusher in every quarter to seal the win. The Lady 'Cats jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead. Both teams poured in 11 points apiece in the second period to take a 26-15 advantage at the break.

Virtuous Acts Rewarded At SJA

The students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School earn “Viking Virtue” cards throughout the school year by showing Christian virtue and performing kind acts that are worthy of special recognition. They place the cards in one of the boxes on campus to enter themselves in weekly drawings for lunch with the principal. At the end of each semester, all cards are combined, and cards are drawn for prizes.

Lady ‘Cats Split Pair Of Games

The St. James Lady Wildcat Basketball team split a pair of games last week, beating Vandebilt Catholic and losing to Dutchtown. Against Vandy, the Lady 'Cats captured a 56- 31 win.

Bulldogs Fall To Parkview, 75-53

The Lutcher Bulldog Basketball team suffered a 75-53 loss to the Parkview Baptist Eagles in a non-district contest. Lutcher fell behind 21-14 at the end of the first quarter and then Parkview outscored the Bulldogs 17-9 in the second period to take a 38-23 advantage at the break. Parkview began the third quarter by going on a 11-3 run and finished the period outgunning Lutcher 29-16 to take a 67-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Bulldogs Drop Two In Plaquemine Tourney

The Lutcher Bulldog Basketball team participated in the annual Green Devil Classic last week hosted by Plaquemine High School.
 
The Bulldogs dropped a pair of losses in tourney play to Northside and to McDonough 35.

Wildcats Suffer Three Straight Defeats

The St. James Wildcat Basketball team dropped a pair of games in the Green Devil Classic and also suffered a non-district loss to Cohen in game played last week. St. James participated in the Plaquemine tournament falling to the host school Plaquemine by a 76-57 score.

GES/GEMS – D.A.R.E. Graduation

GEMS/GES 6th grade students participated in the St. James Parish Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program. This 10-week program taught our students how to resist pressures, which may influence them to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, inhalants, and other drugs. It also helped them to become problem solvers and wise decision makers.
