Lady Wildcats Fall Short In Reaching State Tournament

The St. James Lady Wildcat Softball team fell short of reaching the LHSAA Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA state tournament in Sulphur after suffering a 10-0 loss to the Westlake Lady Rams in a Class 3A regional playoff.

The No. 8 seeded Lady Rams (21-6) advanced to Sulphur to play in the quarterfinals while No. 9 St. James ends its season with a 21- 5 record.

Westlake jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead with the first run was scored off a passed ball. Another run was plated off a sacrifice fly. Later a pair of RBI singles ended the frame.

Wildcats To Begin Playoffs This Week

The St. James Wildcat Baseball team accomplished one of its goals by making the State Class 3A non-select playoffs. The LHSAA recently released the playoff pairings and the Wildcats enter the postseason as a No. 24 seed.

St. James will play at No. 9 Erath with the winner advancing to the regional round to be played by Friday, April 28. Regional and quarterfinal playoff games will have a three-game series. Winners advance to the Allstate Sugar Bowl / LHSAA Baseball State Tournament which will be held May 10-13 at McMurray Park in Sulphur. The state tournament will feature semifinal and championship games for all classes and divisions.

On Thursday April 30, Asaunti Broden and Leah Steib participated in the Physical Fitness meet at Lutcher High School. Asaunti placed third overall and will advance to the state meet at LSU on April 15th. Congratulations!!

Lady ‘Cats Begin State Playoffs With Win

The St. James Lady Wildcat Softball team began the Class 3A nonselect state playoffs with a 11-1 victory over the No. 24 seeded Patterson Lady Lumberjacks.

The win propels the No. 9 seeded Lady 'Cats to the regional round of the state playoffs where they will face the winner between No. 8 Westlake and No. 25 Iowa. The regional round must be played by April 23. Winners in the Regional round advances to the State Tournament in Sulphur on April 28-29.

Bulldogs Crush Lusher In Double-Header

After a rough start to the season against a very challenging schedule, perennial power Lutcher has it going late in the regular season.

The Bulldogs remain perfect in District 10-3A with a 8-0 mark after defeating the Lusher Charter School Lions in a double-header contest clinching the league title.

In the first game, the Bulldogs captured a 12-0 shutout victory.

Bulldogs Sweep Past McMain With Pair Of Shutout Wins

The Lutcher Bulldog Baseball team captured a pair of victories over the Eleanor McMain Mustangs in District 10-3A play last week. In the first game, the Bulldogs came away with a convincing 16-0 win. Lutcher led 1-0 at the end of the first inning when Ethan Bland led off with a walk and the Kolby Bourgeois followed with a RBI ground-out.

The Bulldogs added five runs in the third when Bourgeois led off with a walk and Gage Gill followed with a two-run homer to right field. Later Alex Beier delivered a RBI single to center field and a McMain throwing error plated another run. A passed ball ended the frame with a run to make it 6-0

Lady ‘Cats Capture Pair Of Wins

The St. James Lady Wildcat Softball team remained in the thick of the District 10-3A race after taking a convincing 20-0 victory over Lusher Charter School. The win improved St. James to 2-2 in league play with one game remaining. Against Lusher, the Lady 'Cats came away with a 20-0 victory.

St. James took command early jumping out to a 16-0 first inning lead. Trystan Tregre scored the first run on a RBI double to left field. Kiri Parker followed with a RBI triple and then a throwing error plated another run.

GES/GEMS Participates In Fitness Meet

Gramercy Elementary students recently participated in the St. James Parish Physical Fitness Meet.

The meet was held at St. James High School and participants included: Owen Bourgeois, Chaduthaddeus Carter, Emma Becnel, Ella Folse, Karli Levet, Kobe Brown, and Ju'Ky Mckeel. These students represented Gramercy Elementary exceptionally well and did their very best.

Bulldogs Sweep DeLaSalle; Take Sole Possession Of First Place In District Race

The Lutcher Bulldog Baseball team captured a pair of victories over the DeLaSalle Cavaliers as the defending District 10- 3A champions sent a message in who is the favorite to win this year's league race. The victory improves Lutcher to a perfect 4-0 in District while the Cavaliers dropped to 2-2.

Lutcher snapped DeLaSalle's six-game winning streak while the Bulldogs have won 10 of their last 12 games. In the first game, Lutcher held on to a 2-1 win. Winning pitcher Ethan Bland hurled a four-hitter and struck out 11 DeLaSalle batters to lead the Bulldogs. Stephen Klein of the Cavaliers was tagged with the loss. He allowed just one earned run on five hits. Klein walked four and struck out six.

Lady Bulldogs Take Advantage Of Seven Errors In Win Over St. James

The showdown between two of the best prep softball teams in the parish saw the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs capturing a 12-6 victory over the St. James Lady Wildcats. The win improved Lutcher to 3-0 in District 10-3A play while St. James fell to 2-1 in league play. The loss ended a nine-game winning streak for the Lady 'Cats. Lutcher took command early by jumping out to a 4- 0 first inning lead when Baylie Bourgeois led off with a base hit to center field and then advanced to 2nd base on a passed ball.

Mackenzie Louviere and Brenn Ursin followed with RBI singles and Maegan Michel had a RBI groundout. A passed ball plated another run. St. James cut into the deficit with two runs in the top of the second when Chante' Keller led off with a solo homer to center field. Later Shelby McManus hit a RBI ground-out to make it 4-2.
