Bulldogs, Wildcats Named To All District 10-3A Team

The All-District 10-3A baseball team was announced recently and several members of the Lutcher Bulldogs and St. James Wildcats had several members selected to the elite squad. The District champion Lutcher Bulldogs had eight players named to the 1st Team All-District 10-3A team and also had the Defensive and Offensive MVPs of the league. Lutcher High head coach Davey Clement was named Coach of the Year for guiding the Bulldogs to the league crown with a perfect 8-0 record.

Vikings: League Runners-Up

The varsity baseball team at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School finished their successful season as league runners-up in the Blue Division of the Metro Middle School League. Team members and coaches were (from left) (front, kneeling) Ryan Laiche, Bryce Bertucci, Ian Arnett, Riley Weber, Ori Fabre, Michael Hotard, (middle, standing) Zack Vicknair, Jackson Jensen, Dwight Berlin, Cade Pregeant, Ian White, (back, standing) Rustin West, Coach Kirt Vicknair, Coach Heath Hotard, and Head Coach Drew Pregeant.

Indy 500 Race Is An Event To Check Off Your Bucket List

(Editor's Note) This is a two-part series of coverage of the annual Indianapolis Motor Speedway 500 Race. 
 
Indianapolis, In. - It's a tradition unlike any in sports. Every Memorial Day Sunday a few hundred thousand fans flock to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to hear the famous words "Ladies and Gentleman, Start Your Engines" and watch the Indy 500. The race is the most attended event in the world. This year's Indy 500 appears headed for a record-setting crowd. Race officials have said attendance could reach 350,000. Crowds were considered larger than that, but numbers were exaggerated given the number of grandstand seats and the way the infield was used.

Lady ‘Cats, Dogs Named To All-District Team

The All-District 10-3A team softball was announced recently and the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs and the St.  James Lady Wildcats has several members named to the elite team. The District 10-3A race finished in a three-way tie where St. James, DeLaSalle and Lutcher finished with 4-1 records.

On Friday, April 29th, sixth grade students from Science & Math Academy and Vacherie Elementary School visited Nicholls State University. Students received a presentation on the history of NSU and learned about various areas of studies.

N.O. Pelicans Hosted Jr. Training Camp At SMA

On Wednesday, April 28, 2016, the New Orleans Pelicans hosted their Jr. Training Camp at the SMA. Students worked on their passing and dribbling skills while also learning a few random facts about themselves, such as how wide their arms can spread out. A poster was on display featuring the 7'7'' wingspan of NBA player Anthony Davis.
