Jo Ann “JoJo” Schexnayder McEarl, 55, a native of Lutcher, LA and resident of Gramercy, LA, passed away on July 31, 2017. She is survived by her sons, Cody McEarl and wife Chelsea Sloan, and Jacob McEarl; brother, George Schexnayder, Jr. and wife Connie; sister, June Accardo and husband Ricky, and Donna Zeller; grandchildren, Aubrie Nardi, and Cole McEarl as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James McEarl; parents George Schexnayder, Sr. and Dolores Letulle Schexnayder. Visitation was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, LA from 8:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina, LA. Our sweet Aubrey Rose earned her heavenly wings on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. She was a beautiful little girl born with a broken heart that could not be fixed. She fought hard each day of her 7 months here on earth. She will be so very missed but left us with a lifetime of love. She is survived by her parents, Amber Sutton and Brenden DeLeon; her brother and sister, Carter Mason and Amelia Grace; her grandparents, Eddie and Kristi DeLeon and Melvin and Vickie Sutton; numerous other relatives. She is preceded in death by Melvin Sutton, II. The family wishes to thank the CICU nurses at Children's Hospital NOLA for loving Aubrey like their own. Dr. Neylan Anthony Vedros

Dr. Neylan Anthony Vedros, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017 in Healdsburg, CA surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was born October 6, 1929, number 5 of 13 children, and grew up in Gramercy, LA graduating from Lutcher High School in 1946. He lived and worked most of his life in California. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Beryl Corbett of Shropshire, England, daughters Sally A. Vedros of San Francisco, CA and Philippa V. Welles of Malibu, CA and two grandchildren Nicholas and Natalie Welles of Malibu; seven siblings Lorraine V. Oubre of Lutcher, LA., Ralph G. Vedros (Jill) of Gig Harbor, WA, Mary Ellen Vedros of Baton Rouge, Carolyn V. Laurent of Ponchatoula, Eleanor V. Vincent of Harahan, Jennie Lee Vedros of Paulina, George P. Vedros (Debbie) of Mandeville, and long time friend of family Carol Ducote of Baton Rouge. He is remembered fondly by twenty-seven nieces and nephews and their families across the southern and western U.S.

Eugene H. Roussel, a native of Hester, LA and a resident of Norco, LA (and for the past 12 years in Hester, LA). He is survived by his wife, Anne Webre Roussel; his children: Stephanie Roussel Davis, Kevin Mark Roussel, Stuart Michael Roussel (Karen), and Laurie Roussel Townsend (Joseph); grandchildren: Krystal Davis Raphael (Raymond), Jennifer Davis LeBouef (Kirk), Dennis Lawrence Roussel, Stephanie Wagner, Ainsley Lynn Townsend, Logan Michael Roussel, and Avry Joseph Townsend.; great-grandchildren: Connor LeBouef, Addison LeBouef, Aria Raphael, and sister-in-law “Jackie” Jacob Roussel. He is preceded in death by his sons: Eugene H. Roussel, Jr. and Douglas P. Roussel; his parents, John S. and Annette Haydel Roussel; his siblings: Beaulah Roussel Faucheux, John S. Roussel, Jr., Daniel Keller Roussel, Joseph Pete Roussel, and Jessie Joseph Roussel. Eugene was a graduate of Lutcher High School. He served his country as a marine in the Korean War. He retired from Shell Oil Co.

Janice Louise Chauvin Stein, a native and resident of Union, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 surrounded by her family. Remarkable beyond words, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She somehow managed to give everyone in her life her undivided attention. She is survived by her loving children, Sebrina Rome and husband Ron, Fran Fleniken and husband Mel, Sandy J. Stein, and Ann Marie Fields and husband Ben; brother Harry Chauvin and wife June Rose, and sister Adele Schexnaydre and husband Glenn. Affectionately known as Maw by her adoring grandchildren (her kings and queens); Amanda Rome, Melissa Rome Brunet and husband Ryan, Kade Fleniken, Alexa Fleniken Butcher and husband Daniel, Auldyn and Anna LeBlanc, Ayrton and Harrison Stein, and Emily and Kate Fields. She celebrated the birth of her first great-grandchild, Jude Brunet, this summer. They all brought her joy beyond measure.

Inez Decareaux Gaudin Lowry

Inez Decareaux Gaudin Lowry, age 95, a retired beautician, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on June 21, 2017. Inez was born in Paulina, LA. on December 5, 1921, a resident of Lutcher, and for the last ten years of Baton Rouge. Survivors include her son Wayne and Kathy Gaudin, and daughters and son-in laws, Diane & John Flowers Jr., and Margaret and Paul Caplinger. Grand-daughters Nicole Villemarette and Hannah Caplinger as well as two great grandchildren, Blaise and Gabriella Villemarette. Two sisters, June Bailey and Barbara Waller, along with her many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her first husband, Esnault B. Gaudin and second husband Jefferson Lowry, parents Albert and Cecile Decareaux, sisters, Gladys Louque, Ruth Schexnayer, Pearl Detillier, Jewel Bourgeois, Baby Alberta Decareaux, and brother Ronald Decareaux . Visitation was held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent, LA. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

Floyd Joseph “Bosco” Michel, Jr.

Floyd Joseph “Bosco” Michel, Jr., age 69, passed away at his Reserve, LA home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Floyd was born on September 9, 1947. He was raised in Garyville and a resident of Reserve for the past 47 years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed spending his free time in the swamps of South Louisiana. Floyd had the unique ability to navigate the local waterways with great skill and ease, either by airboat, pirogue, or on foot. He was a successful hunter (deer, alligator, you name it), and his stories of these adventures always made you realize you were in great company with Floyd. He was the president of the Garyville Hunting Club, belonging to it since his childhood. He was a 1965 graduate of Leon Godchaux High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1965-1969. Floyd was a Vietnam Veteran and earned a purple heart for his service.

Grace Roussel Taylor, age 92, was born on June 26, 1925 and passed away on July 19, 2017 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a native of Paulina and a resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by her son, John Michael Taylor and wife Angela; 3 grandchildren: Ave´ Lamm, Alicia Kennard, and Amanda Taylor as well as 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eleanor St. Pierre Roussel; brothers: Shirley “Nego” Roussel, Robert Emmett Roussel, Francis Roussel, and Charles Roussel as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Grace was a retired secretary from Freeport Chemical. She was a member of Riverside Academy Board of Directors, Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. A visitation in her honor was on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina, LA.

Karla Mohon Millet, age 58, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 15, 2017 after a brave fight with cancer this year. She was raised in Lutcher, LA and a resident of LaPlace and Reserve since 1985. Beloved wife of 32 years to Ronald J. Millet. Loving mother of Kelli Millet Cousler (husband, Christopher Cousler), Kaitlyn Millet (fiancé Nicholas Reine), and Brandon Millet. Nonna of Hannah Kate Cousler and Caroline Anne Cousler. Daughter of the late Roy L. Mohon and Anne L. Mohon. Sister of Roy Mohon, Jr. (Elise), Stephen Mohon, Sr. (Janine), Lisa Millet (Earl), Paul Mohon (April), David Mohon (Anne), and Bruce Mohon (Julie). Also survived by her godchildren Chris Mohon, Brandi M. LeBoeuf, Heath Mohon and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving nephew, Michael Mohon. She worked as a Registered Dietitian for 35 years where she was loved and respected by her co-workers.

Grady Anthony Poché age 59 was born on June 8, 1958 and passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 with his family and friends by his side after a brief battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Paulina. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dana Roussel Poché, son, Caleb Poché and daughter, Michelle Guidry (Jeremy). Also survived by his mother, Germaine Guidry Poché, siblings, Eric Poché (Sherilyn), Douglas Poché, Dina Richard (Bryant), Clark Poché (Temple), mother and father-in-law, Theresa and Richard Roussel, brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith Roussel, Rhonda Roper (Neil), Sandra Babin (Billy), Tammy Hymel (Brett), Nadine Louviere, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Wilmer “Joe” Poché. Grady was a sugarcane farmer most of his life which was a job that he dearly loved. He loved volunteering his time cooking for many causes dear to his heart, such as the annual Farmers Field Day, the St.
