Jail Time Inspires Vacherie Woman To Help Others

Syrita Steib-Martin has always enjoyed restoring things. “I love to do little restoration projects,” she said in a recent radio interview. In writing her personal statement to apply for medical school, she had an epiphany moment. “I’m the biggest restoration project I took on.” In her own journey of restoration, Syrita hopes to help restore others as well.

The St. James Parish School System honored a host of distinguished employees during a recognition dinner held Thursday, May 5th, at Rose’s Catering near the Sunshine Bridge. The dinner was sponsored by Motiva and Superintendent Alonzo Luce was the Master of Ceremonies.

Patrick St. Pierre thought he knew a lot about the Town of Lutcher. After all, St. Pierre served as an Alderman for twenty years, but he soon realized that all those years of service didn’t quite prepare him for his current role as Mayor.

What A Season? - Lady ‘Dogs Proudly Come Home With Runner-up Trophy

The Lutcher Lady Bulldog softball team saw its magical postseason run come to an end in the championship game as the No. 4 seeded Kaplan Lady Pirates (25-6) registered a 4-0 victory to claim the All-State Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Fast Pitch 56 Softball Tournament Class 3A title. Due to inclement weather, the championship final, held at Frasch Park in Sulphur, LA, did not begin until 11:15 p.m. on Saturday evening and lasted until 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Lutcher Aldermen Table Fee Increase

The Lutcher Board of Aldermen Tuesday night tabled a proposed ordinance increasing the fees, expenses and charges pertaining to construction and permitting, allowing time to research the amount charged by the Town of Gramercy and St. James Parish government for the same services.
