Chateau St. James Dedicates New Edition

Lutcher’s Chateau St. James dedicated its new 20-private bed-wing addition to the facility last Thursday. The new wing completes Phase 1, which gives those acquiring the new private rooms, a homelike feeling, a staff member said.

Man Unscathed In Lutcher Train Wreck

When it was all said and done, all Larry Johnson could say was that “God is Good!” Last Sunday at roughly 1:00 p.m., Johnson, for reasons unknown at this time, ran into a passing train at the Lutcher Avenue railroad crossing, and to the amazement of bystanders and emergency personnel, Johnson was removed from his mangled vehicle largely unharmed.

First Baptist Church Of Vacherie Celebrates 150 Years

Shortly after the 13th Amendment's ratification which abolished slavery, Rev. N. Daniel King founded the First Baptist Church of Vacherie. Since its founding 150 years ago, six pastors have led the St. James Parish’s west bank located church. The six pastors include: Revs. N. Daniel King, Jack Ellis, Arthur Jones, Maxwell Cage, Lucien Garrett and Johnnie B. Magee, Jr.

West And East Bank Martin Luther King Celebrations Set

The West St. James Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Committee would like to announce that the annual 2016 MLK Day Program will be held on Monday, January 18th at 12:00 p.m. in the St. James High School (SJHS) Auditorium. The MLK Program will be immediately followed by a reception that will be held in the SJHS cafeteria.

Lutcher Bulldog Sidelines Will Be Much Different Without Detillier’s Presence

When the Lutcher Bulldogs take to the field in late August of this year, there will be a major component of the Bulldog program missing. Head coach Tim Detillier, who has been the face and back bone of Lutcher football and Lutcher athletics for the last 25 years, has decided it is time to step away from the game he has dedicated much of his life to.

Parish President, Council Sworn In; First Meeting Of New Council Held

The inauguration of St. James Parish’s newly elected parish president and council members got off to a solemn start Monday when religious leaders from the Catholic and protestant faiths blessed the elected leaders. The hour-long service was held at Vacherie's Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
