Kraemer Officially Elected District 7 Councilman Following Election Recount

If you recall, the Primary election held on November 21, 2015, where Eddie Kraemer and Donald Nash vied to become St. James Parish’s next District 7 Parish Councilman ended with just one vote separating the winner from the loser. On that night, when the votes were tallied, Kraemer received 752 votes to Nash’s 751 votes.

New Lutcher High Principal Working To Raise Test Scores And School Spirit

She may be small in stature, but her hopes for Lutcher High School and its students are as far-reaching as the campus of the east bank’s only high school. Dr. Molly Davis Stadalis is the new principal on the campus of about 1,000 students and just over 100 staff members.

Senator Troy Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Domestic Abuse Charge

Louisiana State Senator Troy Brown pleaded not guilty on Monday to a charge of domestic abuse battery, a charge he received after being arrested by New Orleans Police at a New Orleans hotel last Sunday morning around 1:00 a.m. Sen. Brown represents Louisiana State Senate. District 2, which encompasses parts of Assumption, Ascension, Iberville, Lafourche, St Charles, St John the Baptist, St. James and a large portion of West Baton Rouge Parish.

I think it is safe to say that after last Saturday’s election in St. James Parish it would not be wise to say, “Why bother voting, my vote doesn’t count in the scheme of things?” I also think it is safe to say Saturday’s election was one that will be talked about and one that will be remembered for some time.

As they gather with family and friends around the Thanksgiving table this week, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Becnel of Vacherie will be giving thanks that they found each other. Earlier this year, I wrote a story about three Becnel brothers from Vacherie who served in three branches of the armed forces during the Vietnam era. One of the brothers, Joseph, who lives in Vacherie, provided me with all the information I used to tell the story, which ran on the front page of both The Enterprise and the News-Examiner.

Wildcats Upset Eunice To Advance To Quarterfinals

The St. James Wildcat football team advanced to the Class 3-A playoff quarterfinals after upsetting the No. 2 seeded Eunice Bobcats 30-19 in a regional playoff played at Bobcat Stadium. St. James (9-3) will host No. 7 Northwest (10-2) this Friday, November 27th. Northwest defeated Marksville 22-21 in their second round playoff victory.
