The St. James Parish Retired Teachers Association’s Christmas luncheon, sponsored by Motiva, will be Thursday, December 1st at 11 a.m. at Tezcuco Place. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.
 
Tezcuco Place is Motiva’s new facility that is next to the Administration Building off of River Road in Convent.

Two St. James Men Shot While Sitting In Parked Car; OneDies, One In Critical Condition

The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that on November 13, 2016, at approximately 1:46 a.m., a shooting took place in the parking lot of the Good Children Hall in Vacherie, LA. Upon investigating the shooting, deputies discovered that two individuals had been shot and both were taken to St. James Hospital in Lutcher, LA prior to an ambulance being dispatched to the scene.

Community Gathers To Honor And Remember All Veterans At 15th Annual Veterans Day Celebration

The St. James Parish community paid tribute to local veterans at the 15th Annual Veterans Day Celebration held on Sunday, November 13th, at Lutcher Park. The event kicked-off at 4:30 p.m. and the guest speaker for the celebration was Elvin “Ray” Bass, State Commander for the Department of Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars.

For First Time In Decades, Town Of Lutcher’s Water Fund Nearly Balanced

Lutcher Town auditor Mike LeBlanc, representing Postlethwaite & Netterville, brought good news to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen during the Board’s monthly meeting held November 1st. LeBlanc complimented the Board for finally implementing a water rate increase, which in six months has turned the Town’s water fund into a fund that was hemorrhaging to one that is now sustaining life.

Trump Sends Shockwaves Across America With Upset Victory To Become Nation’s Next President

America elected Donald Trump as its new president, with the democratic concession speech coming from Hillary Clinton early Wednesday morning. Trump's election mirrored Louisiana's official returns, where he lead Clinton at the race's conclusion. Trump lost St. James Parish by 962 votes. With a 78.3 percent local turnout, the presidential race results attributed to St. James Parish include the following: Hillary Clinton, 6,418 votes; and Donald Trump, 5,456.
