Jared Poché Returns To Planet Earth After Otherworldly Start To 2017 Baseball Season

By David Reynaud

I think it is fair to say that most knew that LSU starting pitcher Jared Poché could not continue to dominate the world of college baseball pitching the way he did the first five week’s of the 2017 season.

Just to recap, the former Lutcher Bulldog opened the season with a no-hitter against Army and he nearly did it again the following week against Maryland, as he did not give up a hit until the top of the ninth inning. In his third trip to the mound, he shut out Baylor 4-0 and only gave up three hits in seven innings.

Nolan Kliebert Discovers Love Of PaintingThrough Inspiration And Determination

By Pam Folse Contributing Writer

Nolan Kliebert is a determined young man. When he sets his mind to something, he works hard to make it happen.

Unlike most young men his age who like to hunt, fish and spend time with friends, he is teaching himself to paint.

The 23-year old South Vacherie resident first became interested in painting by watching Bob Ross, the bushy haired, soft-spoken landscape artist who painted with a wide brush and chisel, on television. Then he went to the library and discovered all the painting books there.

Council Split On Asking Judge To Rule Whether Law Dictates Council To Preapprove Payroll

By Pam Folse

In the words of baseball giant Yogi Berra, spoken prophetically in the Mets’ 1973 season when his team was in last place in the pennant race before going on to win the division title, “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

Just when it seemed that the St. James Parish Council had laid to rest for a while any more discussion on the matter of paying employees and vendors, the topic was back on the agenda for the meeting held last week in Convent.

St. Vincent De Paul President Asks Lutcher Officials For Help With Rogue Neighbor

By David Reynaud
Editor

Harold Miller, president of the St. Vincent De Paul’s (SVDP) in Lutcher, asked Lutcher Mayor Patrick St. Pierre and the Board of Aldermen for help in dealing with a difficult neighbor.

The problem, Miller said, is that owner of the adjacent building has installed a fence, one in which he actually screwed to SVDP building, which blocks the alley/space between the two buildings.
