The work done by a committee of St. James Parish Councilmen regarding a proposed cellular device policy has “apparently now disappeared into thin air,” the Council learned Wednesday at their regular meeting held in Convent.

District 7 Councilman Eddie Kraemer asked several months ago for a policy which would reimburse council members for use of their cellular devices.

District 5 residents and others will be back in court on Tuesday, July 3rd at 10:00 a.m. to request that a judge order a halt to all construction on Bayou Bridge Pipeline until court appeals can be heard.

Town of Lutcher officials are in the process of amending the Town’s laws concerning dogs running the streets unattended, so Dog owners, especially those who allow their dog(s) to run at-large, beware!

As previously reported, the Town of Lutcher has a serious stray/loose dog problem and some residents are fed up with the dogs running free throughout the Town.

Some people have boxwood hedges in their front yard landscaping. Others have flower beds, rose bushes or native plants. The LeBlanc family of Lutcher has beautiful, healthy, green bean plants around their front entryway. That’s just a hint of the father-daughter garden that takes up most of the back yard.

Jeffery LeBlanc helps the last of his three daughters with her 4-H garden. “I run the tiller. I put the poison and the fertilizer, and she does the rest,” said the husband to Renee and caring dad.

Assistant District Attorneys Charles “Chuck” Long and Robin O’Bannon filed a motion Monday requesting Judge Jessie LeBlanc to recuse herself from the state’s case against St. James Parish Director of Operations Blaise Gravois. A copy of the state’s motion was delivered to the Judge ten minutes before she was to begin a status conference in the Gravois case.

LeBlanc appeared incensed by the motion for recusal. “Is this a delay tactic, Mr. Long?” The Judge called it a dilatory tactic, a method used by a party in a lawsuit in an abusive manner to delay further proceedings. “I’m not pleased,” she said.

Residents of Forrestal Street in South Vacherie are upset with a neighbor who now has two mobile homes on one lot. Carol Ann Schexnayder and Sandra Cook, both residents of the Roland and Linda Bourgeois Subdivision (R & L Bourgeois Subdivision, LLC) on the east side of Forrestal Street, said their neighbor, Lordez Lewis, is in apparent violation of their subdivision restrictions, copies of which she presented to the council members
