Consultant Presents School Board Preliminary Outline Of New RFP For Maintenance And Janitorial Services

The St. James Parish School Board continues efforts to provide cleaner and better maintained schools and other facilities.

In the past few months, the School Board learned of major deficiencies in the way the schools are maintained and cleaned. The reports showed that school properties were not properly maintained and cleaned. Leaky roofs were left unrepaired and school staff placed garbage cans to catch the water. Other findings showed other ways that the schools were not being maintained.

Since the findings, the School Board has hired the consulting firm Volkert, who among many other things, has been asked to help write a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for new maintenance and custodial services.
