As we look ahead to 2017, we asked St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel to make some projections for the coming year. 1. The future of the inventory tax. Parish Council Chairman Alvin “Shark” St. Pierre, Jr. was asked to offer some projections for the St. James Parish Council in 2017. Here are his comments: 1. Drainage: With two major weather events in four years, St. Pierre is concerned with flooding, especially excess amounts of water due to backwater issues. The Council will consider drainage issues on both sides of the river and the further study of a protection levee on the east bank.
