Preparing For The Worst And Praying For The Best

This has been the motto of St. James Parish officials and the entire St. James community as they work to prepare for south Louisiana backwater to inundate parts of St. James Parish’s east bank. Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 11th, 12th and 13th, historic and unprecedented rain (as much as 25-30 inches) fell on much of south Louisiana, and although St. James Parish was spared much of the heavy rain, the Parish is now bracing for what could possibly be unseen and unheard of levels of backwater flooding as the rain water makes its journey west toward Lake Maurepas and into Lake Pontchartrain.
