Eli Gaston “Pop” Laiche, was born to Wilfred and Edna Laiche on August 11, 1924 and died peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2016. He married the late Audrey Lafont Laiche on November 15, 1946. He is survived by his children: David Laiche (Linda), Elizabeth Laiche, Susan Laiche Curry (Donald), Lynn Laiche, Leslie Laiche Millet and his grandchildren: Deanna David (Scoot), Paula Lazenby (Ron), Kimberly Burrow (Doug), Erica Curry, Amanda Millet; his great grandchildren: Miranda Rilat and Mason Eli David, and Godchild Carol Smith. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Wilfred Laiche, Jr., Alvin Laiche, Wallace Laiche, Anicet Laiche, Otis Laiche and Harold Laiche as well as his sisters: Elva Laiche Zemer, Evelyn Arceneaux, and Elsie Laiche LeBlanc, and a son-in-law Derik Millet. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 in WWII with the 16th Armored Cavalry (France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany). He was initiated into the Knights of Columbus Council 787 in Galveston, TX in 1946 and Council 3217 in LaMarque, TX. He lived in Texas from 1946-2000. He worked for American Oil Co. Visitation was on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina, LA followed by a burial in Mount Olivett Cemetery in Texas City, Texas.
