Dudley Eugene Detillier, a resident of Gramercy, LA passed away on January 8, 2016 at the Southeast Louisiana War Veteran’s Home in Reserve, LA. He was 89 years old, born on October 1, 1926. He served his country in the Army of the United States in Yokohama, Japan and the Philippine Islands from 1945 through 1946; was a past Alderman for the Town of Gramercy; a member of the Gramercy Volunteer Fire Department; a member of VFW Post 5852 and was a retiree from Dupont. He was a loving father and grandfather, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Gloria Roussel Detillier; three children: Kerwick “Speedy” Detillier and wife Minnie; Peggy D. Vicknair and husband Carl-Lee; and Lynette D. Beall and husband Bob; a sister, Elsie D. Levet and husband John as well as 7 grandchildren: Karey, Sherry, Tara, Lane, Brandy, Brandon, and Jason and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Alcee Eugene Detillier and Marguerite Arabie; brothers: Charles Detillier (Ide), Archie Detillier (Pearl), Percy Detillier (Myrna), and Lynn Detillier (T-Cat); sisters: Thelma Detillier Dejean (Elwood), Shirley D. Borrello (Moe), and Jeannette Detillier. Visitation was on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy, LA from 8:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina, LA.
