E.J. Alleman, resident of St. James, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was 79 and a native of Donaldsonville. E.J. worked as an Electrician’s Helper at St. James Sugar (CO-OP) until his retirement. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. During his high school career he was a member of the Louisiana All State High Football team as a guard for 2 years and a member of the 1954 Donaldsonville High School State Champion Football Team. He enjoyed hunting, dancing, and watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and LSU. E.J. is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Annette and Jim Endler, Jacinta and Lon Hays; son Anthony; sons and daughters- in-law Eno Jr. and Lisa, David and Amelia, Scott and Lisa; sister, Inez Alleman Daigle; nine grandchildren, Stewart, Joshua, Dillon, Logan, Meggie, Eleni, Dane, Abigail and Natalie; and numerous nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Melancon Alleman; parents, Eno Oneil and Louise Richard Alleman; grandson, Trey Leonard Alleman (son of Eno Jr. and Lisa); sisters, Theresa Alleman Scioneaux and Florence Alleman Scorsone; and beloved daughter-in-law Yolanda (wife of Anthony). Visitation was held at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bradley Doyle, officiating. Entombment followed in the church mausoleum. Pallbearers were sons Anthony, David, Scott, and grandsons Stewart, Joshua, Dillon, Logan and Dane. In lieu of flowers, we request that masses be celebrated in his name.
