Three Lutcher High athletes chosen to compete at WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS this September!

The members of the LHS Girls Powerlifting team will be enjoying summer in the Dog Pound Weight Room, working to get stronger and win a 13th consecutive State Championship. Three Lutcher athletes have a more personal goal to work towards this summer: trying to make the leap from State Champions to World Champions. Sisters Shyanne and Shay Naquin and Quamecca Stafford have all won the chance to represent the United States at the 2018 International Powerlifting Federation’s Jr. and Sub - Jr. World Championships, being held in Potchefstroom,

South Africa this September. The girls traveled at their own expense to Wisconsin this past March so they could compete at the 2018 High School Nationals. It was there they established themselves as worthy of being invited to compete on the international level. Like the trip to Nationals, this trip will be at their own expense. Fees, uniforms, travel, and hotel costs are projected to cost each of them between $2500 - $3500. Since the trip is so expensive, the girls will not only be lifting iron this summer, they’ll be working in other ways to get their trip paid for.
