Fourth And Fifth District Residents Pack Council Meeting Over Land Use Plan Amendment

A standing room only crowd filled the St. James Parish Council Chambers in Convent last Wednesday as residents of Districts 4 and 5 were there to support an ordinance amending the parish’s Land Use Plan changing an area of District 5 from “Residential/Future Industrial” to “Residential Growth”.

District 5 Councilman Clyde Cooper proposed the ordinance to preserve an area of District 5 for residential growth despite the fact that there have been only two permits issued for new residences in that area in the last ten years.
