DA’s Office Recused From Roussel Indictment Case

Twenty-third Judicial District Judge Jason Verdigets ruled on Monday that 23rd Judicial District Attorney Ricky Babin’s Office can no longer participate and assist in the Malfeasance in Office case against St. James Parish President Timmy Roussel. 

Roussel, along with St. James Parish Director of Operations Blaise Gravois, were indicted by a secret St. James Parish Grand Jury in September of 2016 on five identical counts of Malfeasance in Office for allegedly using parish employees, equipment and funds to install a free gas line for a galvanizing company; for drilling piles on private property; for removing a shed on private property; for demolishing a mobile home on private property; and for removing a playhouse and debris from private property.
