Melvin Joseph Petit

Melvin Joseph Petit was born on December 5, 1934 and passed away on March 4, 2018. He was a strong, hardworking, selfless man who volunteered his time to serve many. He was a life-long resident and native of Hester, LA. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Clair and Jarrod Millet, granddaughter, Mallory Millet, whom he adored, and son, Kyle Petit. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Petit Marchese. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and retiree of Kaiser Aluminum who enjoyed gardening, baseball and cooking with friends. He dedicated much of his time serving the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent DePaul, helping those in need. He is preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Peggy and Rachel Petit. His parents, Michael and Evelyn Louque Petit, sisters, Evelyn Petit Pitts, Dorothy Roussel Petit, and Rose Petit Louviere; brothers, Claude, Harold, Herbert, Dudley, Michael, Ronald and Donald Petit and Gerald Miller. A visitation in his honor will be Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Convent, LA from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
