Alba Duhe Madere passed away peacefully after a long and fulfilling life on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in Lutcher, LA. She was 97, a native and resident of Reserve. Beloved wife of the late Eddie Madere. Mother of Michael (wife, Cynthia Bordelon) of Garyville, Mark (wife, Suzanne Gueret) of Lutcher, Brent (fiancee, Cindy Abbruzzese) of Manahawkin, NJ and Kent (wife, Elaine Rogers) of Pocono Pines, PA. Daughter of the late Joyce and Mederic Duhe. Sister of the late Therese Bass of Radner, OH and Louis Duhe of Houma, LA. Grandmother of Michael Madere (wife, Melanie) of Kenner, Katherine Bailey (husband, Jeremy) of Denham Springs, Rachelle Madere (companion, André Bourgeois) of Garyville, Rebecca Lewis (husband, Benjamin) of Sorrento, William Madere of Boutte, Angelle Madere (fiancee, Brandon Scott) of Paradis, Dennis Madere of Houma, and Matthew Madere and Christopher Madere of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Greatgrandmother of Angelina, Michael and Victoria Madere, Kaylyn and Peyton Sassin, Marie, Josh and Olivia Bourgeois, Nya Walker, Kayda and Billy Lee Madere, and Margaret and Edith Bailey. During her life, Mrs. Madere was a retired cafeteria manager for St. John Schools and a former employee of Godchaux Sugars. After her retirement, she worked as a volunteer for many causes with St. Peter’s. For her efforts she was rewarded with the St. Louis Medallion award from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Mrs. Madere, known as “Granny” enjoyed walking and could be seen walking to church, the library, the store, the post office which she did up to her early 90's. She also enjoyed reading and visits with her sons and grandchildren. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1550 Hwy. 44, Reserve on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the church was from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment was in St. Peter Cemetery.
