Mayor Reports Town May Receive Help In Revamping King Avenue

Lutcher Mayor Patrick St. Pierre told the Board of Aldermen that a recent trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with congressional leaders looks like it may have been a worthwhile trip.

St. Pierre, who traveled to the Nation’s capital with Alderman Danny Manuel and Alderman R. J. St. Pierre, said he presented a plan to resurface King Avenue to the State’s Congressional delegation and that he recently received word that Congressman Cedric Richmond’s office is on board to try to get the Town some assistance in repairing the road. Mayor St. Pierre said the proposed plan stressed that King Avenue experiences flooding, that the Town has been denied FEMA assistance in the past, that the road is an evacuation route in an emergency, and the fact King Avenue is a major highway that runs next to Lutcher Elementary School and the Oscar Brooks Apartments.
