Beverly Rome St. Pierre passed away peacefully on December, 17 2017 after a long fight with dementia. She was 81 years old. Beverly was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend who valued family and friendship and community! She was a life long resident of St. James Parish where she was born and raised and in turn raised her own family with her husband, Ronald, deceased since 1988. She was the matriarch of the families of her 2 daughters and 3 sons: Ronette and husband Kevin Duhe and their daughters Taylor, Sloane and Remi; Michael and his children Laura, Lindsey, Luke, Leslie and Lee; Leonard and wife Durie and their children Landon, Jordie and Cardur; Ann and husband Joe Martin and their children Justin, Rylee, Trey and Lillie; and Dean and April and their children Garrett and Kinsley. She loved to reminisce and share stories of her parents Frozin and Noemie Becnel Rome, both deceased, and her eleven siblings: Frank (Sally), Ferdinand (Jeannie), Jean Paul (Annette), Stella (Harry, Sr.) Martin, Janice (Laurence) Nobile, Anthony and Margaret, Joyce (Paul) Poche, Dickie (Beryl), Nell (Earl) Martin, Gert (Francis) Guidry and their life growing up in rural St. James Parish. Along with her husband Ronald, Beverly was an active parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Gramercy serving anytime she was called including as a faith formation instructor, lector and Eucharistic minister. Beverly was an amazing cook and has inspired her children and grandchildren to appreciate the uniqueness of cajun ingredients and recipes and practiced and preached farm to table cooking before it was ever a thing! It is no secret that Beverly appreciated good food and loved to eat! Besides daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and chef, Beverly can also proudly include on her list of achievements business manager, world traveler, master gardener, spiritual leader, grief counselor, avid reader and LSU coed (for one semester in the not so distant past!). She loved traveling and adventure having travelled to many US destinations, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, France, Italy and Canada. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed a spirited discussion on politics. She loved music and never passed an opportunity to dance! Most of all Beverly loved her community and visiting with her family and friends! Her inability to hear and her advancing dementia did not inhibit her will to be an active member of her community wherever that community happened to be from North Montz Avenue in Gramercy to Azalea Assisted Living in Gonzales to Chateau St. James on the River Road in Lutcher! We are grateful to each of these communities for their love and support! The family would like to thank Dawn Lowe and her colleagues at Hospice of Baton Rouge for their outstanding care and support. A visitation in her honor was on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina Louisiana. ROSE LYNN FUNERAL SERVICES, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA was in charge of the arrangements.
