Bayou Bridge Pipeline Opponents Look To District Court To Hault Construction

St. James Parish residents who oppose the proposed Bayou Bridge Pipeline are expected to appear in 23rd Judicial District Court on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. on a motion to strike.

The plaintiffs, who are represented by the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, include Mount Triumph Baptist Church Pastor Rev. Harry Joseph, Sr.; area resident Rose Butler; the Humanities Enterprise of Loving People, an organization of west bank pastors and residents; the Gulf Restoration Network; the Atchafalaya Basinkeepers, an environmental group focusing on the river basin; and Bold Louisiana, an environmental group opposing the pipeline.

The plaintiffs allege that Department of Natural Resources officials didn’t adequately address the potential effects of spills from the pipeline on the residents of the St. James community. If the motion is granted the entire case may be stricken, thereby ending the effort.
