GLORIA ANN POCHE DUPRE, after a long illness, passed away on November 18, 2017 at her home in LaPlace. Gloria was born on October 1, 1930 in Reserve, LA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years, Whittemore Joseph Dupre who passed away in 1980. Gloria was also preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Irma Robinet Poche. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Joseph Dupre; daughter, Andrea Dupre Hurel; son-in-law, Ernest Hurel, III; sisters, Donna Lee Poche Dural, and Joyce Poche DePass; cousins, Murle Robinet, Joyce Marie LeDuff, Darese Palmer, Joe Palmer, Jada Palmer, Bartholomew and Karen Ann Bencel Moore, and Mike and Tanya Tregre, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s Academy. She loved reading, sewing, gardening, ceramics and music. Her husband served in the U.S. Air Force. As a military wife, Gloria traveled around America with her husband and two children for 21 years before returning to Louisiana to live in New Orleans. In 2005 the traumatic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina forced Gloria to move to LaPlace. Her kind-hearted presence will be sorely missed. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 West 5th Street, LaPlace, LA on Friday, November 24, 2017. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after the Mass at St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery Mausoleum at 1175 Highway 18, Vacherie, LA.
