Spartans Score Three Fourth Quarter TDs To Take Out Bulldogs

The Lutcher Bulldog 2017 football season came to an abrupt end last Friday as the Salmen Spartans scored a touchdown with just seconds remaining on the clock to beat the Bulldogs 34-30 in the opening round of the Class 4-A playoffs.

On paper, the No. 24 seeded Bulldogs beat the No. 9 seeded Spartans in nearly every statistical category imaginable. However, costly and questionable penalties, and a couple of missed calls by the officiating crew, seemed to play a huge role in the outcome of the game.

No one likes to make excuses, but for starters, there were only five referees officiating last Friday’s game. Six is the required number, and seven is preferred in the playoffs.
