The first of two public hearings on a proposed ordinance amending the St. James Parish Land Use Plan was held prior to the St. James Parish Council meeting held on Wednesday, November 1st, in Convent.

The current Land Use Plan was approved April 2, 2014, and became effective April 21, 2014. Since it became effective, the plan was tested by the location of Yuhuang Chemical Co., Bayou Bridge Pipeline, South Louisiana Methanol, Petroplex and Wolverine. Councilmen and members of the Parish Planning Commission feel that changes are necessary. The presentation on the changes was made by Victor Franckiewicz, Jr. of Butler Snow LLC, special counsel employed by the Council for the Land Use Plan.
