Drainage Issues Dominate Parish Council Meeting

The topic of drainage throughout the Parish dominated the agenda and discussion of the St. James Parish Council meeting last week in Vacherie.

South Vacherie resident Jeffery Brown, who lives off of Hwy. 643 near Fern Street, said he is the only one in his area with such severe drainage issues.

Brown said his yard frequently floods and people stop by to take pictures of alligators and snakes in his yard. “It’s embarrassing,” he said.
