REVEREND TAYLOR

Reverend George Lawrence Taylor, Sr., 81, of Rockdale, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 of Alzheimer’s at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock, Texas. Reverend George Lawrence Taylor, Sr. was born August 5, 1936 in Vacherie, Louisiana to Lawrence and Mary Taylor. He was educated through the St. James Parish Public School System and continued on to receive a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Theology from the Christian Bible College of Louisiana. Reverend Taylor worked for several grain companies for many years before retiring. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary (Raphael) Taylor; brothers, Warren Taylor and Claude Florence; and sisters, Juanita Joseph Stewart, Mildred Armant, Sentilia Blazio, Bessie Mae Roche, Abby Swing and Delores Statt. Reverend Taylor is survived by a son, George Taylor, Jr. and wife Denise of Marrero, Louisiana; daughters, Lynne Burkett- Collins and husband Herman of Marrero, Louisiana, Shawn Lemieux and husband Kevin of Rockdale, Texas, and Jeneen Taylor of Rockdale; grandchildren, Brandon Adams, Brett Burkett, Brian Burkett and wife Danielle, and Krystal Taylor; great-grandchild, Micah Burkett; sister, Rose Ann Jones of Vacherie, Louisiana; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, Texas. Pastor Roy Jones, Jr. of New Hope Baptist Church in Austin, Texas will be officiating. Cremation will follow services. The family of Reverend George L.
