Karen ‘Sue’ (Thompson) Daron

Karen ‘Sue’ (Thompson) Daron, 73, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017. She was born March 16, 1944 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Geraldine Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death. Sue graduated from Mattoon High School in 1962, where she was a member of the Del Phi Beta Sorority. She later met and married the love of her life, Jack L. Daron on February 28, 1965. Sue and Jack started their family in Charleston and Robinson, IL, and moved to Lutcher, LA in 1977. She raised three boys in Louisiana before relocating back to the Midwest. They moved to Brownsburg, IN in 1989, and after 52 years together, Jack preceded Sue in death just 6 short weeks ago. Sue loved her garden, her trips to Bob Evans, her garage sales, and most of all her card games. More than any of that she loved her cats. She also served as the former Treasurer for the Indy 500 Chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Jack; and by her older sister, Shirley Morgan (Jewett, IL) Sue is survived by her three sons & daughters-in-law, Michael & Tina Daron (Plano, TX), Scott Daron (Crawfordsville, IN), and Jeff & Michelle Daron (Carmel, IN); by her eleven grandchildren, Jonathan, Clair, Catherine, Alex, Elizabeth, Anastasia, Emily, Mary, Helen, Patrick, and Nicholas; by two greatgranddaughters, Annabella and Jazzimae; by her sister and brother-in-law, Steve & Jan French (Windsor, IL); by her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis ‘Butch’ & Robin Thompson (Charleston, IL); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. From the family: a special thank you to all of our friends and extended family for all of their love and support. We cherish the moments we’ve had, the memories we keep, and the constant reminders of how she touched our lives. A time of visitation was held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL. Funeral services was held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 7th at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Robinson New Cemetery. For those who were unable to attend, a local Memorial will be held in Lebanon, IN at the Boone County 4H Fairgrounds, on Saturday, August 12th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
