Will The Dust Ever Settle On Ash Street?

The St. James Parish Council last week voted 4 to 3 to rescind an earlier resolution seeking a judge’s decision to determine whether Ash Street is a public roadway. Residents along the street located in District 7 have been feuding for years over the right of public passage down the street.

Ash Street, which runs perpendicular to Hwy. 643 in South Vacherie, has been hardsurfaced for years. However, the road was extended when additional property was sold on the left side of the street all the way to the canal.
