Troy Brown Resigns As District 2 Senator

Troy Brown, the District 2 Senator from Napoleonville, resigned from the Louisiana Senate last Thursday, a day before the Senate’s Select Committee on Discipline and Expulsion was slated to take up a vote to possibly oust him from his senate seat. Brown, who has pleaded no-contest twice in the span of a year to criminal charges of abusing his girlfriend and his wife, refused to accept a lighter six-weeks suspension sentence offered him by the senate leadership.
