Joseph Trist Minvielle, Jr. (September 29, 1932 - June 10, 2016). JT was called to his final reward on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83. He was born in Convent, Louisiana on September 29, 1932, and a resident of Gramercy for the past 58 years. He grew up and worked on Uncle Sam Plantation, attended St Michael’s Elementary School, and graduated from Romeville High School all in Convent, LA. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for Sanchez Furniture & Appliances and retired from Colonial Sugars Refinery in Gramercy, LA after 36 years of service. JT was the paper boy as a child, movie camera operator as a teen, and a fixit-all for all of his friends and family as an adult. Most of all, he was a devoted and loving family man. He loved life, and had an optimistic outlook on life with his famous saying “If I’d be doing any better, I couldn’t stand it.” His greatest joys were spending time with family, reading-especially about wild edibles, always looking for the next wild edible fieldtrip and would never refuse a cup of coffee. He was always looking forward to the next family project and would ask “Who’s house is next?” He was loved by all his family and friends and will be deeply missed especially by his “silver fox”, but forever in our hearts. Survived by his loving wife Ruth Roussel Minvelle of 61 years and six children and their families: Kim (Diedra) Minvielle of Paulina LA, Jessica (Clarence) Richard of Paulina LA, Rachel (Floyd) Alleman of Paulina LA, John Minvielle of Gramercy LA, Charlene (Eric) Roussel of Gonzales LA, Tom (Anna) Minvielle of Monroe LA. Grandchildren: Shannon M. (Rich) Lochte, Mike Minvielle, Brandi M. (Charles) Harper III; Brad Richard, Johnnis (Holly) Richard, Stephanie R. (Mike) Mason, Adam Richard; Megan and Ryan Alleman; Tyler and Mason Minvielle; Great-grandchildren: Julia Minvielle, Bertrand Lochte; Kaylee, Everette, and Rosalee Harper; Leigha Richard, step-great-grandchildren, Calvin Pafford and Mason Ainsworth.
