Francesca “Frances” Navarra Falgoust, a lifelong resident of Garyville, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2016 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee “Pete” Falgoust and her parents, Epifanio Navarra and Anna Sagona Navarra, and her sisters Marie Guidry, Vita Monica, Clara Oubre, and Catherine Oubre. A loving and devoted mother of Debbie Poché, Dawn Dottolo, Armant Falgoust, Mary Falgoust, and daughter-in-law Donna Falgoust, she is also survived by nine grandchildren: Al Poché (Lesley), Duffy Dottolo (Amanda), Ross, Rhett, and Reggie Poché, Sommer Naquin (Paul), Dexter Falgoust (Paige), Jade Falgoust (Candace), and Peyton Falgoust and four great-grandchildren: Liam, Myles, Blaze, and Lucas and a step great-granddaughter, Hélène Paxton. A devout parishioner of St. Hubert Catholic Church her entire life, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society but was most passionately devoted to serving the St. Hubert Choir as its director for over seventy years. In 2014, she received the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for her dedication and years of service in the Catholic Church. She was also active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for more than forty years. Besides her family and her church, music was her other great love, and she had been at her happiest when singing or playing the piano, the clarinet, and especially the harmonica for family and friends. Her talent, her warmth, and her smile will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Visitation was held from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Garyville on Saturday, May 28, 2016. The family would like to thank her caregivers at St. James Parish Hospital and especially her nurse Aimee Cancienne of Egan Home Healthcare Services for their professionalism and compassion during her final days.
