The Town of Gramercy and the St. James Parish government joined forces and took over Gramercy’s fire department. Wednesday saw the two political entities work in tandem as Gramercy’s Aldermen, first, passed a resolution authorizing the Parish to begin proceedings to dissolve the Gramercy Fire Department. The Parish, then, approved resolutions to go to court to acquire an injunction, which prohibited access to the fire department’s bank accounts, replaced the locks on the doors, started an accounting of the property contained at the two fire stations and merged the fire department with the new St. James Fire Department.
